Dried Tulip Blossom

I waited a bit too long to shoot this red tulip blossom. It sat on my desk and slowly dried out. And I have to say, I'm quite pleased about that. The texture and shapes of the petals in this photograph are much more interesting now than if I had shot the freshly cut flower. Happy accidents! The blossom was shot with one light slightly behind on the right at about 60 degrees from horizontal. 6 focus stacked HDR shots (3 bracketed images each). Processed in Lightroom, Photoshop, Topaz Glow and Impression, On1 Effects, and Nik Effects. Copyright 2017 Scott Norris Photography scottnorrisphotography.com

Paint Brush

A worn paint brush on a (mostly) white painted canvas. This image was inspired by the phrase "an expensive camera makes a great photograph just as much as a paint brush makes a great painting." I thought I'd use my expensive (to me, it was) camera to photograph the paint brush in action. Passions Collide – Abstract 5

This abstract photography based digital artwork, combines two of my artistic passions - 3D animation and photography. The base color scheme is from a photograph of an old worn out table that had several coats of mismatched paint on it in addition to several glued-on pieces of newsprint and other paper. The color information from that image was used to drive the size, color, and 3D spatial location of each rectangular object. The resulting 3D rendered image was then finished in Photoshop with many color tweaks, contrast adjustments and some other "magical" things.
