Mirror Lake

Mirror Lake

I spent this past weekend camping in Mirror Lake State Park near Lake Delton, Wisconsin.   The leaves are changing but probably a week or two away from peak autumn color. However, we had perfect fall weather with temperatures in the mid 50s during the day and dipping down into the mid 30s at night.  Great camping…… Continue reading Mirror Lake

Eternally Spinning

Eternally Spinning

“To believe in luck, you must believe that the universe is a roulette wheel and that instead of paying out to us what we have earned, it pays out only what it wishes. But it is not a spinning wheel of chance, it is a work of art, complete and framed by eternity.” –from “Innocence”…… Continue reading Eternally Spinning

Storm Clouds over Sheboygan

Storm Clouds over Sheboygan

After a night of pretty intense lightning and thunder, the storm clouds final began clearing the next morning over Sheboygan.  And I can say for certain they were intense.  We spent that long night in a camping tent in a state park along the lake south of the city.  Nothing makes you understand how thin the walls…… Continue reading Storm Clouds over Sheboygan

The Downer Theater

The Downer Theater 2016

I love the entrance to the Downer Theater on the East Side of Milwaukee.  I’ve photographed this facade many times before today.  And it never gets old.   Built in 1915, it is the oldest theater in the city of Milwaukee that still shows films.   The current green enamel facade replaced the orignal in…… Continue reading The Downer Theater

Doubled Arches

Doubled Arches

These futuristic arches line a hallway in the Milwaukee Art Museum in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  Now, in reality, it is just one hall, not two. I mirrored the image to create the pair of arched hallways. You may ask why I decided to mirror the shot.  The architecture of this building, especially the interior spaces, is reminiscent of sets…… Continue reading Doubled Arches

Windhover Hall

Windhover Hall at the Milwaukee Art Museum. Day 260 of my 365 photo a day project. Copyright 2016 Scott Norris Photography scottnorrisphotography.com

If you ask someone in Milwaukee how to get to Windhover Hall you may get some blank looks.  If you ask how to get to the art museum or perhaps “that cool building with the wings”, they’ll know exactly how to direct you.  While the proper name of the building escapes most people – the…… Continue reading Windhover Hall

The Chicago Skyline

Chicago at Sunset

The Chicago Skyline from the Adler Planetarium.  Since I am spending this day shooting with friends in Chicago, I thought I’d share an image I took the last time was there last August.  I was there for the Trey Ratcliff Tour Across the USA photo walk along with a couple hundred of my closest friends.…… Continue reading The Chicago Skyline

Limitless

Limitless

For the artist, the world is limitless. It can be found in the home, on the street outside, in the city surrounding us, in the countryside, and over the far horizon.   It is everywhere we are.  But to truly see this world,  we must first learn to believe in ourselves and our abilities, lead with the heart, and…… Continue reading Limitless

Black Tree White Sky

Black Tree White Sky

“If you don’t like how things are, change it! You’re not a tree.” –Jim Rohn This photo of a lone tree, shot in McKinley Park along Lake Michigan in Milwaukee, originally included the hazy blue sky, the foreground grass and corresponding shadows, and the blue waters of Lake Michigan in the background.  All nice things, but…… Continue reading Black Tree White Sky

Lamp-Lite Motel

Lamp Lite Motel

This is the Lamp-Lite Motel (or at least the sign) along US 51 in Portage, Wisconsin.   Now, I have to say up front, I’ve done just a wee bit of work on this one (see below).  Taken in June of last year and finally processed today, I was driving toward Baraboo looking for a particular…… Continue reading Lamp-Lite Motel

The Wave

The Wave

“You must live in the present, launch yourself on every wave, find your eternity in each moment.” –Henry David Thoreau “Unless you paddle for the wave, you’ll never know if you could catch it. But once you do… Ride it as long as you can. Love as long as you can.” –Abigail Spencer This wave…… Continue reading The Wave

Right or Left Hands?

Is this two different hands? Or are the both the same? Do you see left hands or right hands? This is my commentary on the state of our political system here in the United States. The two main political parties, at least on the national level, for the most part, are the same. In general,…… Continue reading Right or Left Hands?
