A Place to Sit 3

A Place to Sit 3

“Inspiration is highly overrated. If you sit around and wait for the clouds to part, it’s not liable to ever happen. More often than not, work is salvation.” –Chuck Close Looking for art for your home or office or something to spice up your digital desktop?  This image is available for printing and download.  You can also check out the…… Continue reading A Place to Sit 3

A Place to Sit 2

A Place to Sit 1

“The human body has two ends on it: one to create with and one to sit on. Sometimes people get their ends reversed. When this happens they need a kick in the seat of the pants.” –Theodore Roosevelt A place to sit. The Milwaukee Art Museum, Milwaukee Wisconsin. Aqua Tower

Aqua Tower

The Aqua Tower in downtown Chicago is one of the most unique skyscrapers I’ve ever seen.  Looking up, the facade seems to roll and move like waves because of the irregularly-shaped concrete balconies.  Some of which jut out as much as 12 feet!  The rolling overhangs and proximity to Lake Michigan, is where the building got its name. Day…… Continue reading Aqua Tower

Doubled Arches

Doubled Arches

These futuristic arches line a hallway in the Milwaukee Art Museum in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  Now, in reality, it is just one hall, not two. I mirrored the image to create the pair of arched hallways. Concrete and the Landing

Concrete and the Landing

A beam of light marches down across a concrete wall and falls on a metal staircase landing.   The newly renovated Milwaukee Art Museum is a treasure trove of photographable textures, materials, shapes, and details.  I’ve spent quite a bit of time there recently (see here and here), and I still feel like I haven’t…… Continue reading Concrete and the Landing

New Addition

The New Addition: Milwaukee Art Museum

I find structures like the new addition to the the Milwaukee Art Museum so fascinating.  The combination of harsh lines and solid rectangular shapes with the floor to ceiling glass atrium and metal facade is so…well, so damn cool.  Buildings like this just beg to be photographed! Who am I to  ignore what the building wants? Completed…… Continue reading New Addition

Columbia St. Mary’s Womens Hospital

Columbia St. Mary's Women's Hospital

On the East Side of Milwaukee Wisconsin, on a bluff overlooking the waters of Lake Michigan, stands the Columbia St. Mary’s hospital complex.  This “clover-leaf” building, which served as the main hospital for 38 years, became the women’s center when the new building was opened in 2010.   This structure, opened in 1976, was built…… Continue reading Columbia St. Mary’s Womens Hospital
