Motion Graphics

Motion Graphics - Day 287

Today was all about motion graphics.  You may be looking at this image thinking, “what the heck does that have to do with photography?”  Well, in a word, nothing.  I’ve been busy with a couple of graphics jobs (see my 3D/2D reel here) and didn’t have any time to shoot today.  Other than the shot…… Continue reading Motion Graphics

Partly Cloudy

Partly Cloudy

The weather was partly cloudy with plenty of sunshine and a comfortable 76 degrees.  Or at least it was in my office today.  And I have pictures to prove it! Of course, you could say it was mostly sunny.  Well, however you want to categorize it, it was a good day. Day 286 of my 365…… Continue reading Partly Cloudy

Today I Am Tired

Today, I am tired. I'm exhausted from lack of sleep and too much coffee. I'm mentally drained from trying to do everything on my "to-do" list all at the same time. I'm emotionally fatigued from just about everything I see on the news. Today I feel my age and that makes me weary. But tomorrow the sun will rise. I'll have a cup of coffee while listening to the birds singing outside and my wife and son laughing inside. It will be a brand new day. And I will not be tired. Day 285 of my 365 photo a day project. The Questions Worth Asking

The Questions Worth Asking

“The questions worth asking, in other words, come not from other people but from nature, and are for the most part delicate things easily drowned out by the noise of everyday life” –Robert B. Laughlin A tiny, solitary feather floats in the warm glow of the evening light.  These are the moments I live for…… Continue reading The Questions Worth Asking

A Tall Cold Beer

A Tall Cold Beer

It’s summertime.  A time to be with friends and family, enjoy a cold beer or soda, and talk about life and everything.  And with everything going on in the world these days, we need to do a lot more of that.  We need to talk more, be with each other more, and get out from…… Continue reading A Tall Cold Beer

Embrace

In light of recent events, I wanted to create something, anything, that could express what I am feeling. This is a feeble attempt at that because the feelings and emotions are so strong and varied. In any case, this image shows a duality of perception. The two ropes are bound to one another, tied up, and seemingly strangling each other. On the other hand, they are embracing each other, supporting each other, while making each other stronger. Now, what will happen in the coming days, weeks, and months? I wish I knew. However, I pray that the latter perception, that embrace, is the outcome. Day 282 of my 365 photo a day project. Copyright 2016 Scott Norris Photography scottnorrisphotography.com

“A human being is part of a whole, called by us the Universe, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings, as something separated from the rest a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal…… Continue reading Embrace

Learning to Let Go

Learning to Let Go

“Learning to let go should be learned before learning to get. Life should be touched, not strangled. You’ve got to relax, let it happen at times, and at others move forward with it.” –Ray Bradbury Life can be crazy.  Or perhaps, better said, Life is crazy.  Just turn on the news, read the newspaper, listen…… Continue reading Learning to Let Go

Architectural DNA

Architectural DNA

While walking to the store today, I stopped to get a shot of the side of this building.  I’m not sure if you can see it, but it looked like a giant DNA test result to me with its thin vertical windows and alternating rusty metal siding and concrete lines.  Do you think the architect had…… Continue reading Architectural DNA

Miracle of a Single Flower

Miracle of a Single Flower

“If we could see the miracle of a single flower clearly, our whole life would change.” –Unknown, possibly Buddha For the day after the noise, pomp and circumstance, explosions, pops, bangs, and excitement that is the 4th of July, I wanted to create something simple, beautiful and understated.  What better way than with a single…… Continue reading Miracle of a Single Flower

Ribbons and Streamers

Ribbons and Streamers

Ribbons and streamers blowing in the night breeze as fireworks explode in the sky marking the 240th birthday of the USA. For the 4th of July, I wanted to do something different for my shot of the day.  A shot of fireworks was too obvious.  And my shots of parades and picnics did not really…… Continue reading Ribbons and Streamers

Revere Eight – Model 99

Revere Eight - Model 99

I just can’t get enough of vintage camera gear.  This is the Revere Eight Model 99 8mm camera.  I picked this up at a rummage sale in the neighborhood a few weeks ago for $2.  I’m not sure if it still works well and honestly, it really doesn’t matter.  I bought it for how it…… Continue reading Revere Eight – Model 99

Veil of Memory

Veil of Memory

As I inch ever closer to a half century on this Earth, I’m reminded more and more how fragile memory can be. Whether it is forgetting where I put my keys or trying to think of what’s-his-name that sat next to me in home room back in grade school, the older I get the more…… Continue reading Veil of Memory
