“Vision is the art of seeing what is invisible to others.” –Jonathan Swift A clear line of sight all the way to the horizon. Since I’m in the homestretch in my photo a day project and starting a new month, I thought I’d revisit the minimalist theme here (huh, did I ever leave it?) but…… Continue reading Clear Line of Sight

Moonbeams on the Attic Window
“Such a deep silence surrounds me, that I think I hear moonbeams striking on the windows.” –Lucian Blaga A midnight moon shines its light through a dull pane, signing its name on the crumbling plaster walls of a long forgotten attic room. Of the days of joy and sorrow, love and loss, life and death, only a century of…… Continue reading Moonbeams on the Attic Window
Pencil on a Blank Page
A pencil on a blank white page. Another image inspired by my lack of any good ideas for my image of the day. And now as I write, add to that the scarcity of words to go along with it. However, I have learned that the best way to get over creative (or writer’s) block…… Continue reading Pencil on a Blank Page
Solitary
Always vigilant, a tiny solitary Seuss-like tree stands alone in a vast never-ending grey. Although isolated, it is not joyless. For it knows its purpose – to add form and shape to the eternal void. And so it abides. “The soul which has no fixed purpose in life is lost; to be everywhere, is to be nowhere.” …… Continue reading Solitary
A Night at the Carnival
We spent a day and a night at the carnival. And even at 48 years old, I feel like a kid, wide-eyed and excited about the rides, the food, the sights, sounds, and smells. Of course, now that I am an adult, I also get excited about the music and the, shall we say, refreshments.…… Continue reading A Night at the Carnival
Today I Am Tired
Today, I am tired. I’m exhausted from lack of sleep and too much coffee. I’m mentally drained from trying to do everything on my “to-do” list all at the same time. I’m emotionally fatigued from just about everything I see on the news. Today I feel my age and that makes me weary. But tomorrow…… Continue reading Today I Am Tired
Miracle of a Single Flower
“If we could see the miracle of a single flower clearly, our whole life would change.” –Unknown, possibly Buddha For the day after the noise, pomp and circumstance, explosions, pops, bangs, and excitement that is the 4th of July, I wanted to create something simple, beautiful and understated. What better way than with a single…… Continue reading Miracle of a Single Flower
Revere Eight – Model 99
I just can’t get enough of vintage camera gear. This is the Revere Eight Model 99 8mm camera. I picked this up at a rummage sale in the neighborhood a few weeks ago for $2. I’m not sure if it still works well and honestly, it really doesn’t matter. I bought it for how it…… Continue reading Revere Eight – Model 99
Veil of Memory
As I inch ever closer to a half century on this Earth, I’m reminded more and more how fragile memory can be. Whether it is forgetting where I put my keys or trying to think of what’s-his-name that sat next to me in home room back in grade school, the older I get the more…… Continue reading Veil of Memory
Merry Go Round
“If I had my life to live over, I would start barefoot earlier in the spring and stay that way later in the fall. I would go to more dances. I would ride the merry-go-rounds. I would pick more daisies.” –Nadine Stair Next time you are in the park take the time to ride the merry…… Continue reading Merry Go Round
National Selfie Day
Today is National Selfie Day. Now you may think with the way social media is these days that every day is National Selfie Day and you’re probably right. But either way, today is the official day. Therefore, I’m adding my own mug to the endless stream of self shot portraits. My intention with this shot was to do…… Continue reading National Selfie Day
Aqua Tower
The Aqua Tower in downtown Chicago is one of the most unique skyscrapers I’ve ever seen. Looking up, the facade seems to roll and move like waves because of the irregularly-shaped concrete balconies. Some of which jut out as much as 12 feet! The rolling overhangs and proximity to Lake Michigan, is where the building got its name. Day…… Continue reading Aqua Tower
