An Orange Lily

This single orange lily is one of many that line our driveway from the garage to the street.  Today, while most were in the shade of the house, this one was off by itself, basking in the glow of the sun.

For some reason, I thought of the old Chinese proverb that says if you have two pennies, buy a loaf of bread with one and a lily with the other.  While I’m sure there are many interpretations, I believe it means that you should feed your body and your soul equally and with everything you have.  That is something I strive to do everyday.  And the many flowers along the driveway certainly help.

Day 274 of my 365 photo a day project.

Emotion. Mood. Feelings. This is what I capture through my photographs. Whether it is landscapes, architectural elements, still life, or macros - it is a very personal journey as my own fears, triumphs, beliefs, and shortcomings are exposed with each photo. In the end, it is all about telling compelling stories.
