Spring Flowers on White

Ah, the Spring flowers are starting to bloom everywhere.  And that is in spite of the snow (SNOW!) we had just last week.  These tiny little blooms are known as Siberian Squill, or, if you prefer the proper Latin name, Scilla Siberica.  I had every intention of shooting these outside today, but with my 105mm lens with a full macro extension tube on my camera, the wind was making it quite difficult to frame the flowers and keep them in focus, not to mention trying to focus stack.  So a plucked a few stems and brought them inside to my copy stand.

Day 203 of my 365 photo a day project.

Processed using Helicon Focus, On1 Effects, Topaz Glow, and Topaz Impression.

And if you are interested in seeing a ‘before’ shot, here is one of the exposures I used when creating the focus stacked image:

Emotion. Mood. Feelings. This is what I capture through my photographs. Whether it is landscapes, architectural elements, still life, or macros - it is a very personal journey as my own fears, triumphs, beliefs, and shortcomings are exposed with each photo. In the end, it is all about telling compelling stories.
