Now I Know My ABCs

While watching my son play with an old vintage Fisher-Price school house, I noticed this upside down alphabet letter tray.  It was completely emptied, of course, with the magnetic letters spread everywhere across the floor. The ABCs were reversed – the other side is where the letters normally sit – but I thought it would make an interesting photo.  Since I did not have my Nikon with me, I shot it with my cell phone as a three shot pano (I wanted the final image to be large) on the burgundy basement carpet.

I flipped the image horizontally in Photoshop to correct the reversed letters, replaced the carpet with white, added a drop shadow,  and processed in black and white.  Now I know my ABCs!

Day 180 of my 365 photo a day project.

Emotion. Mood. Feelings. This is what I capture through my photographs. Whether it is landscapes, architectural elements, still life, or macros - it is a very personal journey as my own fears, triumphs, beliefs, and shortcomings are exposed with each photo. In the end, it is all about telling compelling stories.
