Clear Line of Sight

“Vision is the art of seeing what is invisible to others.”
–Jonathan Swift

A clear line of sight all the way to the horizon.  Since I’m in the homestretch in my photo a day project and starting a new month, I thought I’d revisit the minimalist theme here (huh, did I ever leave it?) but with a bit of a twist.  I’ve discovered through this year long endeavor that when I forget about they way things should be done and do what I feel, with no inhibitions, wonderful things will happen.  And that helps remove the obstacles that block my clear line of sight to my creative horizon.

So my goal in shooting this image was to create a nice long exposure of the water converted to black and white.  But what do I do when the weather or my schedule doesn’t cooperate?   Improvise, of course.  The twist is I actually shot this image in my office, not at the beach.  The background and horizon line are just two pieces of white stretched canvas.   And I comped in the nice fluffy clouds.

Day 306 of my 365 photo a day project.

Emotion. Mood. Feelings. This is what I capture through my photographs. Whether it is landscapes, architectural elements, still life, or macros - it is a very personal journey as my own fears, triumphs, beliefs, and shortcomings are exposed with each photo. In the end, it is all about telling compelling stories.
