Solitary

Always vigilant, a tiny solitary Seuss-like tree stands alone in a vast never-ending grey.   Although isolated, it is not joyless.  For it knows its purpose – to add form and shape to the eternal void.  And so it abides.

“The soul which has no fixed purpose in life is lost; to be everywhere, is to be nowhere.”
–Michel de Montaigne

Day 292 of my 365 photo a day project.

This tiny “tree” is actually a piece of an old dead climbing vine from just outside our front door.  Shot on a white canvas backdrop with my 50mm lens and one light placed high to camera left.

This image and most of the others from this project are available as prints and digital downloads.  You can also check out the rest of my portfolio here.  And don’t forget to subscribe to the blog so you don’t miss anything.

Emotion. Mood. Feelings. This is what I capture through my photographs. Whether it is landscapes, architectural elements, still life, or macros - it is a very personal journey as my own fears, triumphs, beliefs, and shortcomings are exposed with each photo. In the end, it is all about telling compelling stories.
