“If you would have your son to walk honourably through the world, you must not attempt to clear the stones from his path, but teach him to walk firmly over them – not insist upon leading him by the hand, but let him learn to go alone.”
–Anne Bronte
Raising a child is the best thing my wife and I have ever done. Yet it is also the scariest. We yearn to give him everything he needs and wants yet know we also must let him learn and discover on his own. We must know when to catch him and when to let him fall. We must give him boundaries but also let him find new horizons. We must teach him to speak so that he may find his own voice. We must hold his hand yet know when to let go. After all, he is our future. We must trust that he will lead the way.
