Hidden Stairway

A mostly hidden outdoor stairway at the Milwaukee Art Museum.  My goal today was to capture a few exterior details of the newly renovated and expanded museum building.   Situated on the lower level below the War Memorial Center,  the six-year, $34 million  renovation project culminated with the November 2015 grand re-opening.  With floor to ceiling windows facing Lake Michigan and a very slight brass or copper-tinged metal facade, the modernist architectural design is quite the contrast with the more visible (and famous) Calatrava-designed Quadracci Pavilion.

With more gallery space, easier walk-through, and improved natural and LED lighting, the new space showcases 1000 more works and brings the total permanent display to 2500 pieces!   If you are ever in the Milwaukee area, the art museum is a must visit.

Day 240 of my 365 photo a day project.

Emotion. Mood. Feelings. This is what I capture through my photographs. Whether it is landscapes, architectural elements, still life, or macros - it is a very personal journey as my own fears, triumphs, beliefs, and shortcomings are exposed with each photo. In the end, it is all about telling compelling stories.
