Impressions of Spring

It’s finally Spring here in Wisconsin.  It’s still cold, but the flowers are out.  Yay!!  Time to shoot flowers and find things with color!

With this macro shot, I intentionally left the depth of field very narrow and the flower mostly out of focus because I knew I was going to process it with an impressionistic look.  Normally, you’d want to focus stack to make sure the entire flower is sharp.   But since I knew I was going to add a ton of textures and a couple of passes in Topaz Impression, I skipped that step in shooting.

Day 215 of my 365 photo a day project.

Emotion. Mood. Feelings. This is what I capture through my photographs. Whether it is landscapes, architectural elements, still life, or macros - it is a very personal journey as my own fears, triumphs, beliefs, and shortcomings are exposed with each photo. In the end, it is all about telling compelling stories.
