Crazy Happy Fun Stuff

Experimentation with new techniques, gear, lighting, angles, and subjects can be crazy fun. When the craziness (I’m talkin’ ’bout me) is there at the start, the excitement is doubled. This expression is combination of happy fun and the “oh man, I don’t have any time and I need a shot since I’ll be away from the computer most of the day” look.

To get this shot, I used my Diana+ 20mm plastic lomography lens and held the camera under the lights of my copy stand pointed up at my face.  In processing, I wanted to emphasize the expression.  To minimize the distractions of skin color differences and blemishes (hey, I’m old), I used Nik Color Efex to soften the skin tones and some skin retouching using frequency separation.  Topaz Impression, Topaz Glow and a few textures finished out the look.

As always, if you have any questions about how I created this or any of my photographs and the techniques I use,  feel free to post a comment below or shoot me an email.

Day 193 of my 365 photo a day project.

Emotion. Mood. Feelings. This is what I capture through my photographs. Whether it is landscapes, architectural elements, still life, or macros - it is a very personal journey as my own fears, triumphs, beliefs, and shortcomings are exposed with each photo. In the end, it is all about telling compelling stories.
