Necessary Evil

A photograph of the necessary evil that is high voltage power lines.  We need the energy – you wouldn’t be able see my photos without it – but the towers are visual pollution on the landscape.   But then again, sometimes the power lines become the subject instead of a nuisance!

This was taken on a late afternoon last July (just processed today) in Brookfield, Wisconsin while I was looking for a good location to shoot the sunset.  And, of course, this high voltage line was in the way.   However,  the towers and the connecting wires did create some pretty interesting leading lines contrasted against the hazy blue sky.  So I snapped a few shots and continued my quest for the perfect spot for sundown.  And, if you are wondering, the hazy blue and mostly cloudless sky stayed that way, which makes for some very boring and drama-free sunset photographs.  But, hey, I did get one good shot out of the day!

Emotion. Mood. Feelings. This is what I capture through my photographs. Whether it is landscapes, architectural elements, still life, or macros - it is a very personal journey as my own fears, triumphs, beliefs, and shortcomings are exposed with each photo. In the end, it is all about telling compelling stories.
