“The empty page before me now, the pen is in my hand
The words don’t come so easy but I’m trying.”
–from “On the Other Side” from Monolith by Kansas

When you get 152 days into a 365 photo-a-day project, you are bound to have quite a few days where nothing looks right, there is no inspiration, and you struggle to find an interesting subject, much less a compelling story.  The words above, while alluding to writer’s block, certainly can apply to the way I feel tonight.
I was out and about looking for a shot during the daylight hours and then again tonight in my office.  The words – or images – weren’t coming easy, but I kept trying.

I decided to go with it and try to shoot how I felt. (Always a good way to get interesting stories, by the way.)  What does it look like?  And empty page – or canvas – came to mind.   And after just a few minutes of shooting and a few more of processing,  I think I found the cure to my creative block, at least for tonight.  I’ll worry about what to shoot for day 153 tomorrow.

Day 152 of my 365 photo a day project.

Emotion. Mood. Feelings. This is what I capture through my photographs. Whether it is landscapes, architectural elements, still life, or macros - it is a very personal journey as my own fears, triumphs, beliefs, and shortcomings are exposed with each photo. In the end, it is all about telling compelling stories.
