Contemplating Impermanence

Contemplating Impermanence

“By contemplating the impermanence of everything in the world, we are forced to recognize that every time we do something could be the last time we do it, and this recognition can invest the things we do with a significance and intensity that would otherwise be absent. We will no longer sleepwalk through our life.”
–William B. Irvine

Self-Portrait 34

Self-Portrait 34

By my count, this is self-portrait 34 in this project.   When I need to shoot something interesting everyday and I can’t find a suitable subject, it makes sense to shoot myself.

Eternity Spinning

Eternity Spinning

“Whatever may happen to you was prepared for you from all eternity; and the implication of causes was from eternity spinning the thread of your being.”
–Marcus Aurelius

Pursued by Tired

Pursued by Tired

“There are only the pursued, the pursuing, the busy and the tired.”
— F. Scott Fitzgerald

It’s toward the end of the day, I need a shot for my 365 Project, and I’m exhausted and feeling a bit sick.    I wanted to do more for today and  I actually did get out and shoot a few things.  But in the end, my ugly mug is going to have to do for the photo of the day.

Framed II - Helping Hands

Framed II – Helping Hand

“It was on my fifth birthday that Papa put his hand on my shoulder and said, ‘Remember, my son, if you ever need a helping hand, you’ll find one at the end of your arm.’ “
–Sam Levenson

Five helping hands (all my own) holding an empty wooden picture frame with yours truly standing behind the dusty glass.   I wanted to create something, framing the subject both figuratively (the camera) and literally (the wooden frame).  I thought, “why not frame the framer?”
