A Show of Hands: Day 197
A Show of Hands: Day 197

Ok, a show of hands: who thought I would actually get this far in my photo a day project? Anyone? Well, my hand is half raised. I’ve had my doubts that I would finish many times during the journey. Of course, there is a long way to go, but I’m committed!  Only 168 days to go.

I had a blast creating this one.  This idea has popped up several times during the project, but today is the day I actually shot something for it.   The final image contains 5 different shots of my right hand against a blank wall in my office and a shot of just the wall.  I flipped the “four” and the “two” hands in Photoshop (PS) to make both of them lefties.  I added shadows and a mottled texture to the background and did a ton of overall and spot color toning, exposure adjustments and other effects using adjustment layers in PS as well as plugins from On1, Topaz, and Nik.

Day 197 of my 365 photo a day project.

Emotion. Mood. Feelings. This is what I capture through my photographs. Whether it is landscapes, architectural elements, still life, or macros - it is a very personal journey as my own fears, triumphs, beliefs, and shortcomings are exposed with each photo. In the end, it is all about telling compelling stories.
